Religious Education

Religious Education and Faith Formation

Children's Liturgy of the Word
Every Sunday during the 10:30 a.m. Mass, for children ages 3 - 9 years old.
Children will be dismissed from the assembly before the readings from Scripture to hear the Gospel at a level of understanding for them. They talk about its meaning for their lives, and enter into prayer with the other children gathered. The children will return to the assembly during the time of Presentation of the Gifts.

Children's Religious Education Program
St. Joseph Catholic Parish provides a vibrant religious education program for children kindergarten through 8th grade for students to Encounter, Grow and Witness their faith. Registration for the following year begins in the spring and continues through the summer, ending two weeks after the first day of class.

Classes begin September through April and center around the Spirit of Truth Books from the Sophia Institute. Children must be registered to participate; a registration fee applies; see form for fee information.

Class times are Sundays from 9:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m.

Registration forms can be printed and returned to the parish office with payment. For children receiving First Reconciliation and First Communion or Confirmation, an additional registration packet for that sacrament must be completed and returned to the parish office with any required documentation and additional payment.

First Reconciliation and First Communion Formation
Children receiving First Reconciliation and First Communion will need to attend religious education classes through the parish religious education program, through St. Joseph Catholic School or an approved study program.  Candidates will need to have a completed First Communion registration form, copy of baptismal certificate and payment returned to the parish office by November 1.

Confirmation Program
Students in 8th grade or who desire to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation will need to attend religious education classes through the parish religious education program, St. Joseph Catholic School or an approved study program.  Candidates will need to have a completed Confirmation registration packet, copy of baptismal certificate and payment returned to the parish office by November 1.

In addition to religious education, sacramental formation will consist of a series of in-person sessions. Candidates will need to attend each session with a parent or sponsor. Candidates are expected to attend all Sunday sessions.
